My Travel Diary: Cruise Essentials

Come close, let me tell you
a secret- I went on my first cruise last week. Yes, you heard me right my first cruise!
Can you believe it?
I’m pretty sure you’ve watched the movie titanic. If you haven’t I think you should. Ever since I watched that movie, my curiosity sparked. I craved to attend a cruise. However, time and life never gave me the opportunity. Recently, My best friend invited me to join her for her Bachelor party. I have to say the cruise was far from what I expected. Like every new adventure, it can either wow you or disappoints you; either way it’s worth having. My experience was not so great. Don’t get me wrong, I was accompanied by some of the most amazing women I know; which made the experience worthwhile. We laughed, cried, drank and danced. However, I expected better from the cruise line. Although my experience did not match my expectations, I’d love to share a few tips with you on how to get ready for a cruise.
List of things you want to pack
A. Toiletries/ Hygiene:
Toothbrush, toothpaste and floss
Deodorant
Wipes (for the ladies)
Shower cap (for the ladies)
Sunscreen
B. Clothing:
Undergarment
Light fabric clothing
Bathing suits (three or more depending on the amount of days you are cruising for)
Tennis shoe, sandals, a pair of comfortable heels ( for formal night)
Outfits for dinner. Make sure to pack one formal outfit for the captain dinner.
C. Miscellaneous:
Passport or birth certificate.
Cash( I prefer cash deposit on my account instead of my bank card because at anytime I was able to cash out. If it was my card, I would have to wait 3-5 business days for the fund to release.
First aid kit
Sewing kit
Medication
Prune( for your digestive system. Just in case you can’t use the bathroom)
Bottle of wine or champagne ( if you drink)
DO put some thoughts into it- There are many different categories of cruise. Decide on what will best fit you. Party cruise, luxury cruise so on and so forth. Make sure to get to the port at least an hour and a half before departure time. Please do not forget to have a passport or birth certificate with you. Let me know if this list helps you.
