Summertime Fyne

They say you don’t know what you have until it’s gone. Rightly so, I did not value the beauty of the sunshine state until I moved to New York City. I don’t know about you, but I enjoy the summer time. The bright sun, the beautiful trees, the sandy beaches, the tans… Do you blame me? After all, I’m an island girl. If I am completely honest with you, I relish the summer time now more than I did in Miami simply because I don’t get much of it.Therefore, I try to make the best out of it. Summer time in NYC is like drinking a glass of your favorite wine. It’s guaranteed to be good and enjoyable. This time of the year is dedicated to brunches, water-parks, beaches, lounges so on and so forth. However, it’s not a fun time if you’re not ready for it. So, I am going to share some tips with you on how to be summertime fyne.
Water- I admire the people who drinks a gallon of water a day. Unfortunately, that is not me. Be honest, how many of us really drink a gallon a day? I do drink 6 to 8 cups a day. I think that counts for something. I do encourage you to do the same. Water will keep you hydrated.
Exfoliate- No one is exempt from this one. Exfoliation is so important. Keep your skin alive. Get rid of dead skin with a natural exfoliate. I prefer the exfoliating gel from European wax center. IT’S TO DIE FOR!
Sunscreen- I recently found out that it’s important to use sunscreen everyday no matter what skin type or color. I used to think that sunscreen should only be applied at the beach. I was wrong. So I started using it everyday about a year ago. Yes, I do see the difference. What better time to start than now? I use Clinique Sun 50 SPF body cream. Check it out!
Lotion- Say it with me MOISTURIZER IS A MUST! Who wants to walk around with dry skin? Personally, I don’t have a preference. However, I do recommend using something with full coverage. If you do not want to use a separate sunscreen, you can purchase a lotion that has sunscreen and moisturizer in it.
Pedicure and Manicure- Hiding your feet in those winter boots days are over. Treat yourself with a nice pedicure and manicure. You are worth it.
Fitness- Trust you me, this is something I too am struggling with. What I am starting to do is walk more, adding a little greens to my morning smoothies, going for a morning run (my way of spending the first 30 min of my day with myself). It’s the little things that counts.
Light clothing- Take this time to wear the clothes that has been sitting in the back of your closets. Light fabrics only. Make sure to stack up on sun dresses, shorts, linen, cotton underwears(for the ladies). This summer will be filled with Neon colors. So be bold with your bright oranges, yellow, red, pink. Don’t be afraid to try.
Creating- Create relationships that matters. Get out there, there’s hundreds of BBQs and brunches going on this summer. Many of them can be found on Eventbrite.com. Go on a few dates, have a game night, girls night out, or a spa day. You’ll be surprise how many interesting people are out there.
Usually I pick two to three places to visit during the summer. This year I plan on doing things differently. I plan on exploring NYC. I can’t wait to show you what I discover. I would love to hear you plans for this summer. Don’t forget to share. Also, let me know if the tips help you in any way. Comment and subscribe below.
