BidenHarris2020

I thought long and hard before I wrote this blog for the simple fact that I am not a politician. I don’t engage in political conversations, You won’t find me at any political conventions or any of sort. However, I am an American citizen which grants me all the rights to say every single word follows. Before I proceed, I’d like to disclose this: I may lose some followers/ readers because of what I’m about to say. Fortunately for me, I’ve made peace with that thought. We may not see eye to eye on this subject but I beseech you to just agree to disagree.

We all can agree that 2020 has been one hell of a year. I did not expect this election to be anything different granted that it took place in 2020. The last time I voted was 2008 when Obama ran for president. Voting this year was nothing compared to 2008 to say the least. When I voted in 2008 I felt the need not only to support a man who planned to address the major issues in America; such as finance and healthcare, but also to support the first African American president to ever be elected. It was important to me to make sure my voice was heard. I wanted to be a part of history. And I’ll tell you this, till this day it feels damn good to say “my president Barack Obama”. This 2020 election came with a different perspective for me. One that is based on two factors: first is a continuation of what the Obama presidency represented and second Trump does not  deserve my vote. I am everything Donald Trump hates: I’m a woman, black, Haitian, the list goes on. Despite all that he has said about my people, I don’t hate him. I just don’t support him and can’t fathom the thought of being led by a narcissist for another 4 years.

On Saturday November 7, 2020 Joe Biden Was named president- elect and Kamala Harris as Vice President-elect. Let’s pause for a minute here and unpack the fact that our soon to be Vice President is not only the first woman to be Vice President, but the first BLACK FEMALE VP! I hope you read that right- THE FIRST BLACK WOMAN TO BE VICE PRESIDENT PERIOD. Now, if this fact does not make you wanna scream and shout I don’t know what will. A dear friend of mine texted me on Saturday and said “America suddenly looks a lot better to the rest of the world” I couldn’t agree more. I think America deserves a better leader. One who understands the human race and not just the white race. One who is compassionate, who cares about people from every walks of life.

Here’s what I think:

Nothing is permanent in this world. Everything has an expiration date and I think Trump’s expiration date has come.I think we as a country needed this victory, this joy after dealing with a year full of sadness and turmoil. I think the VP elect is proof that anything is possible under the sun. I think this is what our ancestors fought for. And finally, I think BidenHarris will run a great race.

What do you think about this election, the results? Are you happy? In shock? Who did you vote for? I’d love to hear what you have to say. Feel free to comment below. And don’t forget to subscribe for more updates.
