Cheers to all first time Mothers

Two months ago my life changed forever; for the better. For those of you who did not know, I gave birth to a handsome baby boy in March. Yes, you heard me right I have entered the mother’s club. In some ways, I slipped into motherhood very naturally. Pediatric appointments, changing diapers, breast feeding, burping, sleeping while baby is sleeping, doing laundry every other day- somehow, someway, I think I got a good grip of this phenomenon. Allow me to be completely honest with you, the idea of being responsible for a whole human being is still foreign to me. I admire my baby to the core, but at times I feel like I'm just babysitting him. Is it just me or is that a new mommy thing?
Reality is slowly kicking in daily. The worst part of it all is that there’s no manual to being a new mom. I’ve read books, blogs, quotes, you name it, I’ve laid eyes on it. Someone once told me that experience is the best teacher, therefore I’m taking plenty of notes. I will attest that motherhood is the most beautiful thing I’ve experienced thus far. It’s a supernatural blessing that surpasses human comprehension. It is the ultimate gift God can ever grant a woman. It is the epitome of grace. IT’S MOTHERHOOD.
This Mother’s day, I dedicate this blog to all the new moms ( including myself). To you who survived the morning sicknesses, embrace the stretch marks, sleepless nights, emotional imbalances. You who trades television time for a walk in the park with your baby, who drives 20MPH in a 55MPH zone, You who fights through postpartum depression, being overwhelmed and feeling like you are going to fail. A special dedication to the new mom who is doing it alone- Don’t give up. God’s grace is sufficient for you. This blog is dedicated to the new mom who lives off of coffee now, the one who works a full time job because she has to. It is for the new mom who never thought she would ever have a baby, this is for you mothers, creators, life givers, nurturers. You are exceptional.
James 1:17- Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the father of lights ( the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens)
I want to remind you that you are an unstoppable force, a force to be reckoned with, a Goddess. You are brave, you were chosen for this role, you are favored, you are loved and blessed! You are a mother! You're a whole mood. You got this!
May this first Mother’s Day be the beginning of a lifetime of joy and happiness.
Happy Mother’s Day Queens!
