First Date Tips

I remember it like was yesterday when I went on my very first date. I can’t even begin to tell you the different emotions I dealt with the night before and the night of. Yes, I admit I might have thought a little too much into it because I spent hours upon hours looking for the right dress, the right place to dine, the right words to say etc. If only someone had created a manual to first dates. Maybe there isn’t any manual to the perfect first date. But I think there are some important tips that can make a girl’s life a little easier.
Setting the perfect time. It seems simple but I think this task is probably the hardest. Set a time that works for the both of you. I highly discourage after work, and definitely not during lunch. What if you had a bad day at work? You may not be your best self on the date. As far as during lunch, you’ll be in a hurry to return to work. Therefore, I recommend brunch or dinner on the weekend because you’ll have more time.
Location. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION is so important. I can’t stress this enough. The whole point of a first date is to get to know each other (on a platonic level, please girls value yourself!). A lounge with loud music in the background may not be the best setting. Cinema should not even be on your list (can someone say no attention given?) A quiet restaurant, a walk in the park, fishing or a place that is conversation friendly are great picks.
Hygiene. I think this tip should be priority, yet it’s the last on some people’s list. Make sure to brush your teeth- DON’T TRY TO CHEAT WITH CHEWING GUM! If you have bad breath, try rinsing with a cap full of peroxide and some water; it’ll kill the oder. comb your hair, cut your nails or get a manicure/pedicure ( whichever works best for you).
Outfit- Another priority. I think it’s important to know that cheap can never be classy. I personally always wear black to every first date. Reasons are as follow;
It’s a reflection of elegance
It’s fashionable
It goes with any accessory
No visible sweat marks ( if you sweat a lot)
If you spill wine or water by accident, no stains
It’s slimming
Who drives- This is a tough one. I prefer driving or using a car service. If you do drive please pick a restaurant that offers valet parking or give yourself enough time to find parking. Tardiness is not a good first impression. If you drive and he caught a cab, I think it’s only right that you offer a ride at the end of the date: Vice versa.
What to eat- I beg you to stick to what you know. If you have a question, feel free to ask. You have all the rights to ask as many questions as you wish. If you don’t fancy anything from the menu, leave. There are hundreds and thousands of restaurants to choose from.
Drink or no drink- I like to keep it to a limit of two drinks. One drink says that you’re not a drinker and three says that you are out of control. If you do not drink alcohol, have a fruity drink or STICK TO GOOD OLD WATER. Don’t force yourself to do anything that you are not comfortable with.
What is considered as too much- TOO MUCH cleavage, see through, pantie marks, or makeup, you don’t want a man to go home thinking “I wanna hit that”. Believe it or not you train a man to value you.
SEX or NO SEX- Everyone is entitled to do whatever they want with their bodies. HOWEVER, I don’t think it’s a good idea to have sex on the first date. If you give it to him on the first date, he will think you give it to everyone on the first date. Be wise!
Do your research- Everything is at our fingertips these days with our smartphones. Look up the place you’re going to, price range- just in case he can’t afford it ( if he can’t please don’t call him after the first date), dresscode, type of cuisine etc…
Be yourself- There is absolutely nothing sexier than a woman who is comfortable in her own skin. Don’t try to be someone that you are not. You’d be surprised at how people draw to natural, organic energy.
A first date is important because it can either be the start of something amazing or a learned experience. Whatever it may be, let it be memorable. I hope my tips helped you. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Please comment below.
