Finding Your Niche

Finding Your Niche

Phillipians 4:6- Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

I’ve decided to start this blog post with a verse because my secret lies in that scripture. Many people have asked me, “What is your secret?” “Is there a specific track to follow that leads to where you are now?” (Side note: I have yet to see my best days). I wish, truly deep down inside  WISH I had a manual to share with you. Unfortunately, there is no manual to success or greatness. We all define success differently, and we all want to be successful. However, I think what we all strive for is a natural fulfilment. Doing something that our mind, soul, and heart enjoys, is the ultimate goal. The truth of the matter is, most of us don’t know what it is that fits our true self because we are self deficient.  How does one find there niche? That comfort place, that platform that’s only designed for your talent? How?

Let’s take a moment to talk about niche. A niche is a comfort zone, it’s a suitable position in just about everything, primarily employment. In french, a nicher ( Ignore the “R”- we all know the french language is more sophisticated)  is a nest that birds build as a home to lay eggs, hatch and then raised their chicks. It’s a perfect shelter that provides protection from predators for the young while the parent birds hunt for their young ones. There’s somewhat of a parallel between the two meanings. It all comes down to a place of comfort. If you ask me, a niche is not a desired place to stay/live for the rest of your life. However, it’s a place of development, a sanctuary to manifest into the best version of yourself. It is where  patience, perseverance, trust (in YOURSELF), is birth.

“He who knows others is wise; he who knows himself is enlightened”- Lao Tzu

I am a strong believer of knowing oneself. Like T.D Jakes says, “ If you know who you are, then you know who you are not”. I can’t stress this enough, it’s crucial to discover yourself. Know the small details that sets you apart. Embrace them, nurture them, for it is within them you will discover your true passion. I’ve said this before, self searching is a lifelong process. We all go through stages in life; it’s called growth. I am not the person I used to be 2, 4, 8 years ago. Are you? Therefore, we cannot operate on the same level we did years ago. Be open to changes and allow yourself to evolve with time. This is my advice to everyone who strives for greatness.

SO, how does one find their niche?

  1. First of all, find yourself. If you can’t find yourself or you don’t know how, seek guidance through prayer and supplication (That worked for me). Be patient. Sometimes God answers prayers in minutes, sometimes in years.

  2. Second, find your passion. Pay close attention to what makes you genuinely happy- not what pays the bills. What is the thing that you are emotionally invested in? Your passion is your WHY. Once you find your why, you will automatically find your how. When you do find your passion, give it your very best. Don’t forget persistence is key.

  3.  Third, be bold. Have confidence in what you are bringing to the table. It’s important to believe in your abilities. If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will. Also, develop an attitude of humility. To be bold does not mean you have to be arrogant. It’s your duty to find a good balance.

  4. Last but not least, have quality engagements. Do not waste your time with things that are not profitable to you.  It’s 2019 almost 2020- gossip is out of style. Make it a habit to join meaningful conversations. Interact with like minded individuals. And, make friends with people who encourages you to be great.

My prayer for all of us is to live beyond society’s  expectations. To be used up to our full potential. To find our niche, but extends beyond that comfort zone. It will soon be 2020, I hope this blog points you in the right direction to find your niche. Comment below let me know if this helped you in any way. Also, don’t forget to subscribe for more updates.
